Scientific name - Dynastes hercules reidi
The listing is for 1x beetle larva, of a gigantic rhinoceros beetles species. The nominate subspecies is famous for holding the title as the largest beetle in the world, where the current world record specimen has been measured at just over 18cm.
These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Martinique Island, North America.
This is a special, rarely-kept subspecies of the iconic Hercules Rhino Beetle. This subspecies reaches the smallest adult size out of the 9 different subspecies, meaning that less space and substrate is required to raise this particular subspecies of the Hercules Beetle. This makes these a suitable entry-species for beginners wanting to delve into rearing giant beetles.
The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood and leaf litter.
