Common name - Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle "Red Phantom"
Scientific name - Trypoxylus (Allomyrina) dichotomus "Red Phantom"

The listing is for 1x beetle larva, of a RARE, selectively bred bloodline from Japan, which are characterised by white eyes together with an intense red body.

Normal adults of the Japanese Rhino Beetle are black/ brown bodied with black eyes, but this pedigree has been selectively bred for near 10 generations to isolate characteristics that bring out the underlying red colouration in this species.

These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Japan.

The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood and leaf litter.
