Common name - Fiery Orange Isopod
Scientific name - Porcellio sp. "Silvestri"

The listing is for 1x animal, of a large species of isopod (rolypoly/pillbug/woodlice) that is one of the largest isopod species available in the hobby. This species is extremely similar in appearance to Porcellio hoffmannseggi, but is a much easier and forgiving species to breed. Please note that this species is sexually dimorphic (appearance of males and females being different), where the males are orange and the females are a mottled grey.

These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Spain, Europe. When a group is purchased, the isopods sent will be an assorted mixture of ages and sizes, to ensure a good start to a breeding colony.

Like other giant Porcellio species, this species prefers a less moist environment compared to other isopods, with plenty of airflow as well.

The isopods feed on a variety of forest materials such as decaying wood and leaf litter. Additional supplements such as calcium (limestone/cuttlefish bone) and fish food should be offered as part of their balanced diet.
