The listing is for 1x animal, of a beginner-friendly species of large isopod (rolypoly/pillbug/woodlice), that is characterised by its polymorphism (many-morphs). The main This species is normally fully black/grey, but a percentage of individuals can exhibit orange skirting and yellow highlights on their backs.
This is a pedigree called "Firecracker". This genetic line has been selectively bred for its ability to consistently produce a high percentage of very colourful individuals with brighter orange and more highlights on their backs.
These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from France, Europe. When a group is purchased, the isopods sent will be an assorted mixture of ages and sizes, to ensure a good start to a breeding colony.
Like other giant Porcellio species, this species prefers a less moist environment compared to other isopods, with plenty of airflow as well.
The isopods feed on a variety of forest materials such as decaying wood and leaf litter. Additional supplements such as calcium (limestone/cuttlefish bone) and fish food should be offered as part of their balanced diet.
