Common name - Rainbow Stag Beetle
Scientific name - Phalacrognathus muelleri "Mirror Glaze, Amethyst"

The listing is for 1x beetle larva, of a highly sought after species of Stag Beetle that is famous for their metallic, rainbow colouration as adults. This is a RARE, special bloodline originally from Japan that was first bred in the UK by me in 2022, and I can finally offer surplus offspring in small quantities. As this bloodline is still new, surplus stock from my captive breeding programme will be available infrequently.

This is the special "Mirror Glaze" pedigree (aka. Pikal) which is a selectively bred bloodline that has been carefully selected by Japanese pro-breeders for its mirror-like sheen on its thorax, much like the mirror glaze cake that took the internet by storm. Normal P. muelleri have a matte thorax, and a comparison between the two can be seen in the second photo. Furthermore, this "Mirror Glaze" pedigree has further been selected for their fully purple body colour.

These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Queensland in Australia.

The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood.
