Common name - Obsidian Stag Beetle
Scientific name - Mesotopus tarandus
The listing is for 1x adult, of a RARE species of stag beetle which is the largest stag beetle species in Africa. This species is famous for their unique black, mirrored body colour which is does not exist in any other insect species.
These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Congo in Africa.
The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood colonised by Turkeytail Mushroom.
