Common name - Giant Stag Beetle
Scientific name - Lucanus elaphus
The listing is for 1x adult beetle, of the largest stag beetle species in the USA. Due to its species name of "elaphus" (deer) being similar in spelling to "elephas" (elephant), this species of stag beetle is mistakenly called the "Elephant Stag Beetle" by many. This species is well known in the US for their large mandibles and red colouration.
These are CAPTIVE BRED, with this stock originating from Missouri, USA.
The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood.
