Common name - Jewel Stag Beetle "Sapphire"
Scientific name - Lamprima adolphiane "Sapphire"
The listing is for 1x beetle larva, of a very beautiful, metallic species that can take on a variety of colours as adults, ranging from gold to blue to red to green.
This is a special bloodline where I have been selectively breeding adults that show a higher proportion of blue than normal. *Disclaimer* - This new blue bloodline is not 100% stable yet, so it can still sometimes produce adults of other colours, especially in the males.
These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with the stock originating from West Papua.
Like many members of the rhino/stag beetle families, the males of this species possess large horns/mandibles used in wrestling matches with rival males, while females lack these structures. The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood.
