Common name - Shocking Pink Dragon Millipede
Scientific name - Desmoxytes purpurosea
The listing is for 1x animal, of a holy-grail species of millipede that is famous for its vivid, pink colouration and dramatic spiny body that give it a dragon-like appearance.
Closely related to the smaller D. planata (Pink Dragon Millipede) that can commonly be found in European collections, this is a very rare species that has only just come into circulation this year. Compared to D. planata, this species is much larger, has more prominent spines, and is a vibrant electric pink. A comparison of the two species can be found in photo #2.
These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Thailand, Asia.
The juveniles and adults feed mainly on decaying wood and leaf mulch (decayed leaf litter). Additional supplements such as calcium (limestone/cuttlefish bone), fruits & veg, moss, and protein such as fish food should be offered as part of their balanced diet.
