Common name - Atlas Rhinoceros Beetle
Scientific name - Chalcosoma atlas
The listing is for 1x adult beetle, of the Atlas Rhinoceros Beetle which are characterised by their impressive 3 horns + metallic green colouration, and is the third largest rhino beetle species that can be found in Asia.
This species should not be confused with the often identically named "Chiron Rhino Beetle" (C. caucasus) which is a different and much larger species (largest rhino beetle species in Asia).
These are wild collected animals I purchased for introducing genetic diversity into my captive bred culture. These surplus males have already mated with my captive bred females and are no longer required for breeding in my collection so I would prefer them to live out the rest of their lives in new homes. These adults are very healthy and are not missing any tarsi (legs), which would otherwise be a sign of old age. This stock originates from South East Asia.
The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood and leaf litter.
