Beetle Larvae Frass

This listing is for frass (i.e. larval poop) of beetle larvae, which is a key component of flake soil. It is used to inoculate sawdust with the beneficial gut bacteria for the production of flake soil. Please note that as this is larval waste material, it cannot be used for larvae as is. This is an inoculant intended for flake soil production.

Frass is a key component in the production of flake soil as it introduces the beneficial, larval gut bacteria into the sawdust, which helps to break down the lignin in the wood during fermentation.

Beetle frass can also be used for the following purposes:
1. Mixed into egg-laying boxes to induce laying in adult beetles
2. Re-used as substrate for other wood-feeding invertebrates such as isopods
3. Spread over the soil of plants as a fully organic, nutrient-rich fertiliser.
