Common name - Giant Orange Isopod
Scientific name - Armadillidium granulatum "Orange"
The listing is for 1x animal, of a new large species of orange isopod (rolypoly/pillbug/woodlice) in the hobby, derived from Armadillidium granulatum. This species can reach 18mm, making it one of the larger Armadillidium species available in the hobby.
This is a special pedigree called "Orange", which has been selectively bred for a mutation that reduces the level of the isopod's body pigments. This results in a bright orange body that is dotted with yellow spots.
These are CAPTIVE BRED, with this stock originating from Europe. When a group is purchased, the isopods sent will be an assorted mixture of ages and sizes, to ensure a good start to a breeding colony.
The isopods feed on a variety of forest materials such as decaying wood and leaf litter. Additional supplements such as calcium (limestone/cuttlefish bone) and fish food should be offered as part of their balanced diet.
