Scientific name - Acherontia atropos

This listing is for 1x animal, of a beautiful species of moth that can be found across Europe and Africa. This species is famous in pop-culture as THE moth used in the classic 1991 movie - The Silence of the Lambs -, due to the eerie skull pattern this species possesses on its thorax. This species also possess the ability to squeak when disturbed.

These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Southern Europe. In the wild, the adult moths feed on honey and raid bee-hives to sustain themselves but in captivity, the adult moths can be fed on a honey and water mixture. The food plants for the caterpillars are plants in the Solanaceae family (potato, tomato, aubergine, etc.), but can also be reared on privet, lilac, etc.
