Common name - Giant Flower Beetle "Extra White"
Scientific name - Mecynorrhina torquata ugandensis "Extra White"

The listing is for 1x, larva of a rare bloodline of the second largest Flower Beetle species in the world after Goliath Beetles. This bloodline is a new collaboration project between select European breeders who are are in the process of selectively breeding adults that have a greater ratio of white markings on the bodies of the adults.

These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with the stock originating from Uganda.

Normal adults of this species are green and orange but this is a bloodline that has been selectively bred over multiple generations to isolate the blue colour which is now stable. Further on from the regular blue striped bloodline, this bloodline has been selectively bred on top, for adults that have a larger proportion of white on their thorax and wings.

The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood and leaf litter.
